Are you renting a house, parking space or business premises from Lieven de Stad and do you want to terminate the rental agreement? A notice period of one month applies for a house or parking space. You can terminate the rental agreement every day of the month, but the last day of your rental agreement may not fall in a weekend or on a public holiday. For example, if we receive your notice on the 22nd of the month, the last day of your rent will be the 22nd of the following month at the earliest. If this is a weekend or public holiday, the next working day will be the end of the rental agreement.
Different agreements apply to business premises. Please check the terms and conditions in your rental agreement.
The notice must be signed by all tenants. The notice takes effect on the day we receive your request. The following information must be included in the notice:
After terminating your rental agreement, you will receive confirmation from us within 3 working days. We will plan a visit with you for a preliminary inspection. During the preliminary inspection, an employee of Lieven de Stad will inspect the house with you and discuss what needs to be done before the final inspection.
Whether you have to remove any facilities depends on several things. The employee of Lieven de Stad will make arrangements with you about this during the preliminary inspection.
If after giving notice, you do not cooperate with the preliminary or final inspection or if you do not hand over the premises as agreed at the end of the rental agreement, we will give you notice of default. Lieven de Stad will then carry out the necessary work and charge you for the costs incurred.
A final inspection takes place on the last day of the rental agreement. An employee of Lieven de Stad will check whether the condition and state of repair of the premises is in accordance with the agreements made. After the final inspection, you must hand in all keys. If any keys are missing, you will be charged for this.
If you have handed over the premises as agreed at the end of the rental agreement, the deposit will be refunded to you within 14 days.
Sometimes you will not be living in your house for a longer period. In a number of cases, you can let someone else live in your house temporarily, while you keep the tenancy rights. However, some rules apply to this, and you always have to ask permission.

Home exchange is a way of moving. You need to look for a candidate who wants to swap houses with you. Bear in mind that the rent will be recalculated after the exchange.
